the film post-80s, by first-time director li fangfang, reflects thissituation. the film tells a story of an orphaned girl, as she grows from a 16year-old high school student into a 27 year-old professional. the fighting girlgives the post-80s new image, they are positive to life, fighting for theirfuture with continuous effort.

now when people talk about the post-80s, they are no longer meant to thenegative impression, they praise for this generation, for their effort toovercome the great pressure in today’s competitive world. the post-80s are nomore the princess and princes, they have grown up, they are the future and thecountry’s hosts.

statistics show that stress comes from every detail in our life . financialproblems , poor health , being laid off may be the stress that most adults nowsuffering . as students in the university , we are also under our special stress. while study , having to take various tests and submit a project against adeadline may put a great pressure on us . and the things make us felt stressedmay be our parents’s greater expectations on us than we could reach . later ,when we are likely to graduate , some other problems will also annoy us . ithink we will worry a lot about our ability to compete in the job market and howwe can best use what we’ve learned at college in our future job .

the chief problem we should face to is our atitude towards stress .peopleusually say they can not live in the sun except they escape from stress . it’sunwelcome ! yes , however , very necessary . just image a world where stressdoes not exist and people lead their life in a very comfortable way . but isthis kind of living condition as perfect as we hope ? without stress , they mayfeel very satisfied with the current life but lack of power to discover newthings result in nothing except a countermarch of the society . no stress , nodevelopment . so a certain amount of stress is good . it can stimulate us andincrease our level of alertness .

and our answer to stress is another vital problem . how to do withourselves when stress suddenly break into our life ? to wave the white flag andadmit our unability , to give up to our ideality , or worstly , just to suicideas to put an end to everything … of cause not . the principle is to tackle withstress gentlely and harmoniously. we should try our best to release ourselves .such as to do some exercise , to linsen to traditional chinese music orclassical music to ease our minds and to learn to view these changes of life aschallenges .it’s no use crying over spilt milk . only to accept what hashappened can solve the problem .

When I saw the titile of this essay I am supposed to be writing about, allI felt were its broadness and abstractness. Though I am a Chinese myself, it hadalways seemed complicated to tell how much exactly my nationality meant to meuntil that unforgettable experience in the Chinese Embassy at the U.K, whichmade a significant difference to my life. Only when I was abroad did I realizehow proud I always was for my great country and clarify the relationship betweenChina and me, referring it to that between a mother and a child desperate forhelp.

It was in the London Heathrow International Airport that our passports andairplane tickets were stolen a few minutes before the plane took off. Despairedand tired as we were, we wandered on the flourishing streets of London and feltisolated from all the nearby lighthearted laughters. It didnt take a long timefor the lingering homesickness hit us and reminded us of the Chinese Embassy atthe U.K that might be our sheet anchor. Ages passed while we walked to theembassy, suffering from hunger and helplessness with every step we took. Sureenough, our eyes were unconsciously filled with tears when we finally reachedthe spot. I was taken by surprise when the brightly-colored Chinese nationalflag broke through the darkness and appeared once again in front of my eyes,recalling all the pleasure I had at home. It suddenly felt as if I was takenhome, a home where all my fear and anxiety vanished and replaced by the hope andwarmth that ran all over my body to cheer me up. The ambassadors were allamiable Chinese officers and the familiar Chinese accent drew me closer to mymotherland where we received the only help. The ambassadors made us noodles inthe familiar Chinese way and settled the accommodation for us. I had tearsrunning down my cheeks when the hot noodles, smelled as pleasant as my mothersat home, filled my stiff empty stomach because I knew I was safe in the arms ofmy compatriots and there was no need to be worried anymore for I knew I washome.

We successfully returned to Beijing the next day and I still couldnt forgetthe moment when I felt so much closer to my motherland than any other timegiven, as though our hearts were beating in one melody. Had my motherland notsaved the day, we would never came back home so quickly without any restriction.For that one brief second when I was handed the brand new passport with aChinese flag printed on it, my heart was overflowed with the pride for my ownnation because never has a country I known connected to its people so close asthe way my motherland and us related. I was like a child, crying and desperatefor help while my mother China is the harbor to hold me, this small vulnerableboat. Even though I was out of home, my motherland remained inseparated from meno matter how far I go and is always there to help me back on track whenever inneed. I wish you a happy birthday, China. I am so proud of you not only becauseof your obvious amazing pace in economical development, but also due to therelieved and warm way I felt when I was abroad and enjoyed your ray of loveshone on my body and heart. You are the spirits dancing in my blood, thestrength holding up my body and and essence making up my soul. I am so honoredas a Chinese, a member of this dynamic and loving country. For your developmentand future, it is my responsibility to settle you safely through all thenumerous difficulties until we finally make it to the bank where happinese andprosperity is waiting. I love you, China, my dearest mother!

President McCluer, ladies and gentlemen, and last, but certainly not least,the President of the United States of America:

I am very glad indeed to come to Westminster College this afternoon, and Iam complimented that you should give me a degree from an institution whosereputation has been so solidly established. The name "Westminster" somehow orother seems familiar to me. I feel as if I have heard of it before. Indeed nowthat I come to think of it, it was at Westminster that I received a very largepart of my education in politics, dialectic, rhetoric, and one or two otherthings. In fact we have both been educated at the same, or similar, or, at anyrate, kindred establishments.

It is also an honor, ladies and gentlemen, perhaps almost unique, for aprivate visitor to be introduced to an academic audience by the President of theUnited States. Amid his heavy burdens, duties, and responsibilities--unsoughtbut not recoiled from--the President has traveled a thousand miles to dignifyand magnify our meeting here to-day and to give me an opportunity of addressingthis kindred nation, as well as my own countrymen acrothe ocean, and perhapssome other countries too. The President has told you that it is his wish, as Iam sure it is yours, that I should have full liberty to give my true andfaithful counsel in these anxious and baffling times. I shall certainly availmyself of this freedom, and feel the more right to do so because any privateambitions I may have cherished in my younger days have been satisfied beyond mywildest dreams. Let me however make it clear that I have no official mission orstatus of any kind, and that I speak only for myself. There is nothing here butwhat you see.

I can therefore allow my mind, with the experience of a lifetime, to playover the problems which beset us on the morrow of our absolute victory in arms,and to try to make sure with what strength I have that what has gained with somuch sacrifice and suffering shall be preserved for the future glory and safetyof mankind.

Ladies and gentlemen, the United States stands at this time at the pinnacleof world power. It is a solemn moment for the American Democracy. For withprimacy in power is also joined an awe-inspiring accountability to the future.If you look around you, you must feel not only the sense of duty done but alsoyou must feel anxiety lest you fall below the level of achievement. Opportunityis here and now, clear and shining for both our countries. To reject it orignore it or fritter it away will bring upon us all the long reproaches of theafter-time. It is necessary that the constancy of mind, persistency of purpose,and the grand simplicity of decision shall rule and guide the conduct of theEnglish-speaking peoples in peace as they did in war. We must, and I believe weshall, prove ourselves equal to this severe requirement.

President McCluer, when American military men approach some serioussituation they are wont to write at the head of their directive the words"over-all strategic concept". There is wisdom in this, as it leads to clarity ofthought. What then is the over-all strategic concept which we should inscribeto-day? It is nothing lethan the safety and welfare, the freedom and progress,of all the homes and families of all the men and women in all the lands. Andhere I speak particularly of the myriad cottage or apartment homes where thewage-earner strives amid the accidents and difficulties of life to guard hiswife and children from privation and bring the family up the fear of the Lord,or upon ethical conceptions which often play their potent part.
